The Basics
Kona Trolley is a privately run transportation service for Historic Kailua Village, making scheduled loops connecting shops, restaurants, shopping centers, activities and places of interest along Aliʻi Drive and through the gateways into the village.
For visitors looking at Kona transportation options, it provides a simple way to move around the village without needing a car for every journey.

The Kona Trolley currently runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. As ridership grows, Kona Trolley is working towards seven-day coverage.
Yes. Kona Trolley provides scheduled transportation around Historic Kailua Village. It is designed to connect riders with businesses and places of interest along the village loop.
Head to any marked stop and look for the designated Kona Trolley signage. There is no need to flag down the driver and no reservation is required.
You can also use live tracking to see where the trolley is while service is running.
At launch, one trolley completes the village loop approximately once an hour. Plans are underway to add a second trolley, which will bring service to approximately every 30 minutes.

There is no Visitor Monthly Pass.
Buy your daily, weekly or monthly pass online before you ride. Your pass will arrive on your phone, ready to show when you get on.
Your pass starts when you activate it.
- Daily Pass — 24 hours from activation
- Weekly Pass — 7 consecutive days from activation
- Kamaʻāina Monthly Pass — 30 days from activation
All fares and passes are non-refundable.
No. Kona Trolley is a cashless service. Passes can be purchased using a card or phone.
A valid Hawaiʻi State ID or Hawaiʻi driver’s license is required when purchasing or activating a Kamaʻāina pass.
There is no separate keiki fare. Lap children under 3 years of age ride free when seated on an accompanying fare-paying rider’s lap.
Riding With Us
Absolutely. Your pass includes unlimited rides while it is active. Get off for lunch, shopping or a visit to one of the places of interest along the route, then ride again when you’re ready.
Yes. The Kona Trolley is an open-air vehicle.
Service animals are always welcome.
No, but for wheelchair service accommodations, we request notice by no later than 5pm the evening before you would like transport.
Kona Trolley provides reasonable accommodation for riders with disabilities who are unable to board the standard vehicle. Depending on your needs, this may include an alternate accessible vehicle, assistance, modified boarding procedures or another reasonable accommodation.
